Earlier this year we undertook insurance repairs following a robbery at our clients Church. To respect their privacy, I have chosen not to name this church. Due to deplorable actions of others, this is an unfortunate situation in which we were required to showcase our skills.
I selected this project for the casestudy as I am extremely proud that our team were able to make appropriate repairs to prevent these beautiful doors from being replaced. The clients representative also wished to restore these 3 doors as he appreciated their craftsmanship and quality.
From the damage incurred, it appears that the historic doors withstood the attack for quite a period! The required works to the 3 doors were therefore deemed to be as follows:
Front Double External Doors to Church
Straighten hinges and replace missing bolts. Replace damaged timbers to door, fill, rub down and re-varnish in dark oak.
Re-align both front external doors to church. These doors did not give way!
External Door to Church
Replace damaged timbers to door and frame. Fill, rub down and re-varnish in dark oak. Re-secure the door and frame, adjust lock, re-seal around frame.
Internal Door
Restore damaged timbers to door and frame. Fill attack damage, rub down and re-varnish in dark oak.
Repair and refix where possible the skirtings and architrave in contact with the door frame, including plasterwork and decoration to make good.
